Extended School Year at ATG: Individualized Learning Year-Round
What is Extended School Year (ESY)? In short, ESY allows students with learning differences to continue their academic progress after the school year ends. Students who qualify for special education are offered this service if parents and educators determine it is needed.
Who is ESY for?
Students with Individualized Education Programs, or IEPs, are eligible for ESY. The need for ESY is determined on an individual basis during the student’s IEP meeting. ESY is considered as an option for each student with an IEP, but it may or may not be deemed necessary based on each student’s unique situation.
What does ESY cost?
There is no cost for ESY for the families of participating students. ESY is a state-funded service that is offered as part of a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE).
What does the ESY program entail?
ESY at ATG is an eight-week program that provides direct instruction in Math, Reading, and Language Arts. Depending on the student’s unique learning needs and IEP requirements, adjustments to the program may be made.
Why ATG for Extended School Year services?
Not all educational environments are created equal. At ATG, students have the opportunity to receive one-on-one, personalized instruction that takes into account their unique style of learning. Our ESY program offers the same benefits that students receive during the school year, meaning they maintain their academic and personal progress year-round.
